A Ring without Rival, the 150-Carat All-Diamond Ring April 9, 2012Posted by Jill Renee in : Engagement Rings , trackback
Master craftsmen at Shawish Jewelry, a Switzerland based luxury jewelry store, have emerged from their workshop to reveal a breathtaking 150-carat masterpiece.
Mr. Shawesh and his colleagues spent a year carving the 150-carat diamond ring out of a single large diamond. Cutting edge laser technology (no pun intended) was used in conjunction with traditional diamond cutting and polishing techniques to achieve the final design of the ring. The ring is made entirely from diamond and does not contain any precious metals or gemstones. Mr. Shawesh has copyrighted what he claims to be the world’s first all-diamond ring so others will not be tempted to replicate the feat. According to their website, “the most important aspect is preserving the integrity of the diamond and of course the most difficult phase is precision cutting an entire stone into a ring”. The company had to perform several tests before cutting a precise circle directly into the diamond with special laser equipment.
The ring is expected to sell for $70 million! WOW! Consider their marketing tagline when pondering the exorbitant cost; “There are more than a billion years in a diamond, only now this eternity is in your hands”. I just hope they have the correct finger size for the buyer!
