Created by forces of nature over millions of years, diamonds definitely have a strong provenance and heritage that is really quite beautiful - and on some level, miraculous. At the end of the day, jewelry is collateral. Diamonds are known to hold their value. Even as the global financial structure was collapsing around us, diamonds held their own.

Nowadays, it seems that 1 carat diamond earrings are the most highly coveted in terms of the wow factor. However, if you're considering your purchase as a long term investment, investing in a higher caratage such as 2 carat and above in the best combination of color, clarity, and cut could potentially be a better investment.

Through the years, diamonds have represented a store of value - especially during the global financial crisis. High caratage diamonds are actually quite a bit like fine art - definite collector's items. As in any market, supply plays a critical factor in the long term value of diamonds. Higher caratage diamonds are somewhat similar to the Van Goghs and the Rembrandts of the diamond world - rare, treasured, and highly sought after.

I would have to agree that diamonds are a girl's best friend - they are surely mine!!! :) and these days when the economy has been going down the drain, it is very practical to learn how you can get the diamond earrings that you want for the most reasonable price by knowing some facts about these precious gems particularly the 4 C's. Cheaper diamonds don't necessarily mean less face value. It can all depend on the style and design and you can actually find great bargain pieces that look more elegant than some of the more expensive ones.
