I received my rings this morning and couldn't be happier.  Everything, from the rings themselves, to the presentation box, to the included appraisal, met and exceeded my expectations and I will not hesitate to do business with you in the future.

Thank you so much,

The World's Most Unique Diamond Gifts

Everyone has someone on their holiday shopping list that is difficult to shop for, be it because they're incredibly unique or they simply have everything. Because of this, gifts must be hunted for months in advance. Keeping in mind that Valentine's Day is right around the corner now is the time to start looking for the perfect gift of diamonds.  While the best solution for the unique gift-recipient is to simply get to know them better, the gift for the person who has everything is a bit easier. The trick is to buy a truly one of a kind gift.

FOR THE MUSIC FAN OUT THERE

White ear buds proved to be a major marketing victory for Apple and the iPod. The more discerning shopper, however, might want to push the limit a bit, choosing to sport a pair of 18 carat gold plated ear buds. These truly unique devices can be purchased for £3,500, or about $5,300. photo credit

FOR THE TECHNOLOGY FAN

Should your difficult recipient be a fan of the high tech gizmos, constantly buying the latest and greatest in shiny devices that whiz and blink, attempting to buy them anything tech-related can be a difficult task. A much wiser decision is to appeal to the tech lover's sense of nostalgia. That is, go retro. Simply buying older technology is a bit passé, so, for the sake of a good gift, it's best to spice retro up with a touch of diamonds. Take, for example, the gold-plated, diamond-studded original Gameboy, retailing for $29,500. photo credit

If the tech fan in your life is not into video games, it's a safe bet that they love their computer. And every computer eventually needs a new mouse. Giving a mouse as a gift might sound a bit mundane, but this mouse is anything but. According to Pat Says Now, the Swiss manufacturer of the mouse, this device is cast in 18 carat white gold and is set with 59 brilliant cut diamonds in either a flower or scattered design. The modern, 3-button, optical wheel mouse can make the perfect gift for a mere $24,180. photo credit

FOR THE NEW PARENT

When giving to a difficult person, sometimes it's best to give gifts that reflect his or her life. That's what folks at a personalized pacifier company did to celebrate the birth of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's baby, Shiloh Nouvel. The custom-made gift consists of a solid white gold pacifier with 279 pave cut diamonds where the rubber part of the binky normally sits. Though the jeweler notes the pacifier isn't for actual use, it's the thought that counts. Or in this case, the $17,000 worth of thoughts. photo credit

FOR THE KID AT HEART

Hot Wheels have been around for ages, and thus have rightly found their place within the annals of childhood nostalgia. The people who haven't spent hours of their childhoods pushing these little metal cars about on the carpet while making vroooommm noises can likely be counted on one hand. So, what better to get the child-at-heart than a truly one-of-a-kind Hot Wheel.  Mattel only made one of these white gold and diamond-encrusted muscle cars, valued around $140,000, and it was auctioned at Bonhams and Butterfields to benefit charity. However, the owner could potentially be coaxed to part with it, if the price is right. photo credit

FOR THOSE YOU LOVE TO TALK TO

However, with gift giving, it is really the thought that counts. And nothing says thoughtful like  a cell phone. The gift says "I'd like you to be able to talk to me whenever, wherever." For these unique and special people, you'll obviously need a unique and special cell phone. The iPhone, a bastion of slick style is certainly a great gift, but their popularity means they aren't that unique. However, jeweler Amosu has solved that problem by encrusting the phone's bezel in 5.65 carats (420 diamonds) and 18k gold (white or yellow, your choice!). This stylized and personal version of the iPhone can be had for $41,225. photo credit

If a cell phone must be officially one-of-a-kind, then there is nothing to beat the works of Swiss jeweler, Goldvish. Proud Guiness Book of World Record's holder for World's Most Expensive Phone, the unnamed device comes completely encrusted in VVS-1 grade diamonds set in precious metals. Though specifics about this, such as the phone's capabilities, are scarce, the price comes in at a hair under $1.3 million. It's hard to get more unique than that. photo credit

FOR THE ART AFICIONADO

Paintings are largely remnants of the 20th century. The 21st century has once again rediscovered the art of sculpture, and in today's modern art world Damien Hirst is a rock star. His latest accomplishment, "For The Love of God," is a one-of-a-kind statement on life and luxury consisting of a solid platinum skull encrusted with 8,601 diamonds. Hirst, who first came to fame pickling sharks, created this skull in the same style that Mexican artists encrust human skulls in turquoise, his is just much more expensive. The Hirst sculpture is valued at around $100 million, but limited edition, diamond sprinkled silkscreen prints can be had for between $2,000 and $20,000.

The trick to giving a gift is to consider who you're giving to, isolate what you love about that person the most, and then find something that embellishes on that love. These gifts ideas are, of course, extreme examples. Though they have taken the idea of gift giving to illogical extremes, they all subscribe to the theory that a gift should somehow match the recipient. That match is what makes a truly great gift, not the price tag.
