1) Reputation - Make sure the company you are considering has a good reputation with the Better Business Bureau. And check out the company by doing an online search by combining the company name with the words "complaints" or "review".

2) Security - Make sure the site security seal is up to date and valid.

Danforth Diamond has two security seals with are updated daily. One is with McAfee and the other is with Thawte.

3) Contact - Look to see that the contact information for the engagement ring company is listed on the website. There should be a name and address with company operating hours. Often there is a toll-free telephone number. Give them a call and ask a few questions.

4) Returns - Check out the return policy. Most reputable online jewelry stores offer returns. Be sure to check out the timeframe for the return, such as 30 days from receiving. Be sure to check for any "restocking" fees or details about circumstances that make the return policy invalid, such as engraving the ring with initials or dates.

Danforth Diamond has a No Questions Asked return policy valid for thirty days from the time of shipment. And no hidden restocking fees.  However, if your ring is engraved with a personal message, is manufactured in a special size or has diamonds all the way around, the ring is not returnable unless there is a manufacturing defect.

5) Warranty - Look for a warranty on the engagement ring and the company policy on repair service. Some companies offer free cleaning and inspection of your engagement ring on a yearly basis and will do repairs.

Danforth Diamond has a lifetime warranty for our engagement rings and eco-friendly jewelry. This warranty includes a free ring inspection and cleaning, one time per year. Shipping to our company is not included.

6) Resizing - See if the company has a policy for resizing your ring after purchase. Some companies will resize your engagement ring or wedding band for free the first time.

Danforth Diamond offers one free resizing of your ring, up or down one full size. Eternity bands cannot be resized and are not returnable. Resizes larger than one full size require remanufacturing of your ring and there is a small fee for this service.

7) Shipping - Pay attention to shipping fees. Most companies offer free overnight shipping for diamond engagement rings. Big shipping charges can easily add onto the bottom line of your purchase.
