Trick or Treat October 29, 2012

Trick or Treat is a customary phrase used on Halloween in many countries.  It is used by children in costume traveling from house to house asking for treats.  The most popular treat is candy.  The “trick” is a threat to perform mischief on the homeowners or their property if no treat is given.  This has been a customary Halloween tradition in North American since at least the early 1950s.  Some homeowners go all out by decorating with fake spider webs, carved pumpkins, witches, and more.  Others will either only have candy to give out or just leave a bowl of candy on the porch.

Danforth has decided to participate in the TREAT part of trick-or-treating this year and is giving away a free pair of earrings.  The earrings are sterling silver dangle disco balls set with cubic zirconia.  They are perfect for all of your Christmas and New Year’s parties this year.  Like Danforth on Facebook and tune in to our Facebook page on Halloween morning for the giveaway instructions.

Happy Halloween and have a fun and safe trick-or-treating experience this year.

They’re Your Teacher, Coach, and Friend… They’re Your Boss October 16, 2012

Today we celebrate National Boss’ Day.  National Boss’ Day began in 1958 and is usually celebrated by presenting your boss with a small gift or greeting card.  It is kind of similar to a birthday except that there is not a Happy Boss’ Day song.  It is customary to treat your boss with extreme kindness on this day.  This special day is celebrated every year on October 16th.

National Boss’ Day was begun in 1958 by Patricia Bays Harowski.  She was an employee at State Farm Insurance Company in Illinois.  She registered the holiday with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and four years later, Governor Otto Kerner backed her registration and officially proclaimed the day.   The date of October 16th was chosen because it was her father’s birthday, who also happened to be her boss.   This holiday has become an international celebration and is now observed in countries such as England, Australia, and South Africa.Happy Boss Day

Even though Boss’ Day began in 1958, Hallmark did not produce the first card until 1979.  Now there are cards from sweet, loving, to funny.  “The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention.  Thanks for helping me always.  Happy Boss’ Day.”

Happy Boss’ Day to everybody out there.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Snooki and The Jersey Shore – All Good Things Must Come to an End October 2, 2012

For all of you Jersey Shore and Snooki fans, the final season starts this Thursday, October 10th.  The Season Premiere of the 6th and Final season will air at 10pm EST on MTV.  Get ready for spray tans, fighting, partying, friendships, and much more.

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi starts the season off 6 months pregnant.  It doesn’t take long for her to want to leave the shore house.  By the end of the first episode she is stating that she is going to make the summer her own and moves to another house.  According to house-guests the viewers will not see a huge difference even though Snooki is in a different shore house.

This is unfortunately the last season of the Jersey Shore.  Snooki and fiance, Jionni LaValle, welcomed their new baby boy shortly after the season stopped filming.  After more than 24 hours of labor, Lorenzo Dominic LaValle was born just before 3 am on August 26th.  Snooki gave birth at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J.  Lorenzo was born weighing 6 pounds and 5 ounces.

Not much has been told about Snooki and Jionni’s plans for marriage.  Right now it looks like the wedding will be sometime in the fall of 2013.  Snooki says she will be wearing white but her bridesmaids will be in leopard print.  She is also doing the reception in white and animal prints.  After marriage, Snooki confesses that she wants 3 more children.

In Other Shore News, Jenni Farley, aka JWoww, and Roger Matthews are now engaged.  Roger and JWoww also found love on the Shore and have been together for two and a half years.  Roger proposed during a skydiving session.  JWoww was presented with a five-carat sparkler.  Congrats to another happy couple from the Jersey Shore.

Jersey Shore Final SeasonWhile this may be the last season of the Jersey Shore, it is just a new chapter in the lives of the 8 people we fell in love with.  With two engagements and a new bundle of joy, a lot has happened since Jersey Shore first started.  Good luck to all.  Who knows, maybe Ron and Sammie are next on the list to get engaged.
