The Princess and The Diamond Tiara! August 10, 2011

Tiaras are the traditional symbol of royalty that we have ALL, at one point or another, dreamed of placing upon our head!   Many of us use our wedding day to live out this dream and dress our veil with diamonds and gems galore.Princess Katherine's TIARA

While each and every woman looks like princesses on the day of her wedding, Princess Katherine played her role as a princess particularly well and wore a beautiful sparkling tiara on her wedding day.  Princess Charlene, on the other hand, turned heads when she ditched the century old tradition and went with an updated look!

For her royal wedding, Kate Middleton dazzled in a 1936 Cartier diamond tiara loaned to her by Queen Elizabeth II.  She wore the crown under her veil with her hair pulled up half way while she let the rest fall to her shoulders in beautiful curls.  The tiara was purchased in 1936 by King George VI for his Dutchess (the Queen Mother).  In turn, Queen Elizabeth II received the tiara from her mother on her 18th birthday.

However, I have to give it up for Charlene Wittstock who successfully and elegantly updated this century old traditional tiara! She adorned her look with a diamond hair piece created by Lorenz Baumer that contained eleven pear-shaped diamonds. This elegant piece rested on top of her low bun and peeped out from behind her ears and blonde hair.  Her wedding gown featured a delicate embroidery and Swarovski crystals.

Bottom line, BOTH princesses looked beautiful on their wedding day!
